On March 22, 2014, a major mudslide occurred near Oso, Washington. How did it impact nearby human communities? Did the river contribute to the landslide? Is this a safe place to live? In this short lesson, students seek answers to these and other questions using ArcGIS Online, a web-based geographic information system (GIS). Using the GIS they will analyze topographic maps and imagery from satellite-based remote sensors.
